James River Horseshoe Campground

James River State Park is in Gladstone VA, south of Charlottesville. We stayed at the Horseshoe campground. Their facilities are extremely nice and clean! The stalls are huge, at least 15x15, maybe larger. Electric and water hookups; the sites are pull-through and allow two trailers to share a common area between them. There are 20 covered horse stalls and five tent pads. All sites have electric pedestals, which have 20, 30 and 50-amp outlets.Campsites have a fire-ring grill, one picnic table and a lantern hanger.Full-service bathhouse with hot showers. The bathhouse has four unisex showers, one of which is universally accessible. If you do not want to camp you can rent a house too!

There are 15 miles of trails that are wide and well maintained. Lots of bridges and water crossings, wooded trails, and beautiful wide grassy trails along the river. It is one of my favorite parks to ride!

Large clean stalls. Bring your own sawdust. They have a manure bin, wheel barrel and pitch forks for your convenience.
