We celebrated a friends birthday on this ride, so the video is a bit funny, but it will show the parking area, the long flat trails and the bridge at the Monacacy. We parked at the Point of Rocks MARC train station on a Sunday so there was ample parking. Rode from Point of Rocks to the Monacacy bridge and back which was about 12 miles total. The canal path is wide, flat, blue stone that runs along the water. No direct water access, but pretty views of the water. There were a few Port-a-Jons along the way too. The railroad tracks ran right next to the trail so your horse should be quiet and broke to walkers, joggers, dogs and baby carraiges. If you are looking for a place to ride when the footing is muddy or questionable, the C&O is a great choice. Be prepared for long flat straight trails. If you are used to mountains and different terrain, this may be a bit "boring" for you. We enjoyed the trails more from the Brunswick MARC and rode to Harpers Ferry (see review).
